Kalam Classes, 15 October 2016
After finishing their graduation, three young friends from Khitoli believed they could lift the standard of education in their own village. Two of them held NCC ‘C’ certificates and dreamed of serving in the defence forces; all three were preparing for exams like AFCAT, MPSI, MP Police and SSC GD, and had experience teaching school students.
On Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary — 15 October 2016 — they started Kalam Classes near the post office in Khitoli. In 2018, two of the founders were selected into MP Police; the third became an engineer. The classes kept growing, and in 2020 they became Kalam Foundation.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is our ideal
His work for space, technology and defence — and his belief in young people — inspired us. That is why our foundation carries his name, and why his birthday is our Foundation Day.
“Hamara Sankalp, Ek Behtar Kal.”
Our resolve, a better tomorrow — the promise behind everything we do.To educate needy students from poor families — all classes, all subjects — and to build awareness about cleanliness and civic sense.
A better village and a better society: educated, employed people who share better ideas and bring progress to the whole area — through education, awareness and women empowerment.
Students, girls, women and anyone in need in Khitoli and the villages around it.
The whole village. Our biggest strength is the people of Khitoli.
